What can’t be sent in parcels

Some things can’t be carried at all, and others have special rules for entering the UK or Romania. Check the list before you pack.

Not allowed

  • spirits (țuică, pălincă, vodka, whisky and others);
  • tobacco products (cigarettes, tobacco, cigars);
  • weapons, ammunition, weapon parts and replica weapons;
  • drugs and any illegal substances;
  • gold or silver items, including jewellery;
  • cash;
  • anything else prohibited by law, for example: explosives, fireworks, flammable or dangerous substances (petrol, gas bottles, thinners, acids), live animals, counterfeit goods, stolen items.

By handing the parcel to the courier, the sender agrees to our transport conditions, whether or not they have signed the transport document.

Special rules apply – ask us first

  • Meat, cured meats, dairy and other animal products. The UK bans most of these from being brought in from the European Union, even in small amounts. The fact that all our parcels travel refrigerated doesn’t change these rules. See the official rules.
  • Plants, seeds, soil. Plant health rules apply.
  • Other alcoholic drinks (wine, beer). Limits and duty apply. See GOV.UK.
  • Medicines. Some need a prescription or are banned.
  • Large batteries, battery-powered devices. Tell us beforehand.

Gifts and customs charges

Since Brexit, parcels between the UK and the European Union may be subject to customs duty and VAT, depending on contents and value. For the UK, the official information is on GOV.UK – Goods sent from abroad; for Romania, see the Romanian Customs Authority website.

The list above isn’t complete and rules can change. If you’re not sure, ask us before you pack.
